The rule is that you are supposed to write a little every day.

I recently suffered a small heartbreak. I had left nearly ten years of journals on my desk and an unfortunate pet encounter with them saw them completely destroyed. Mostly unsalvageable. I was heartbroken. I wondered if I would ever write another page in a journal again. I even took that opportunity to descend into a proper existential crisis, lamenting to a friend how so much memory was lost to time. It is not that the lived events didn't happen or even that I do not remember them, but our experiences are so fragile.

You are reading more blog posts than stories if you are one of the few with whom I've trusted with this platform at the time I published this. I am working up to writing something every day. I am contemplating how much of the different sorts of articles you will eventually be able to consume on this platform. What my release cadence might be for each, and how they might be presented. I am also putting an unfriendly amount of pressure to a dear friend who is a very talented writer to collaborate on some writing with me.

Which brings me to what's new. This website is new. The three people who were aware of my previous website's existence will notice this is radically different. I have spent every spare moment for the last two weeks building it out. This is still basic, but new feature I am very excited about is my 'reader'. That's right, I built a small reader with which folks who become familiar with my work can read the smaller format items I plan to publish here. Short stories, novellas, and select chapters of my novels will be available to read with my 'Works Reader' while I have built out an article reading system for things like blog posts, newsletters, and knowledge base articles.

I have planned some milestones for this platform. A community section is forthcoming. I will share details with that in a future post, but the idea is a portal where you can learn about some of my collaborators, co-authors, and artists that will be featured in my works. There are a few additional ideas I have been kicking around. I need things to write about later though, so I'll save those for yet another future post.

I am considering platforms such as X, Bluesky, Facebook, and maybe Patreon, but this platform will be my nexus. My next big priority is setting up a newsletter system so that those of you that feel like you don't get enough spam, can subscribe to email news.

Soon, I may even start writing some of those stories I am trying to hype up.

Until that time, please check back often!

Yours, -M
